Foster
Cat or dog fostering means temporarily or long-term caring for an animal in your home, including older or ill animals that may need lifelong care. Fostering provides animals with a safe, loving environment, while helping shelters reduce overcrowding and giving vulnerable pets a better quality of life.
Could you open your home and heart to a dog in need?
If you are interested in fostering one of our dogs or cats whether for a short-term stay or a longer-term placement we would love to hear from you.
Please email us at info@causesforanimals.com and let us know a little about yourself, your home environment, and the type of fostering you may be able to offer.
What is the difference between short-term and long-term fostering?
Short-Term Foster
Short-term fostering is ideal if you can offer a safe and loving home for a minimum of 2 months.
This can be particularly helpful when an animal needs:
- Temporary care while a regular foster is unavailable
- A safe place to recover or decompress post-surgery
- Care while we work towards finding a permanent home
- Relevant veterinary records
Even a short stay can make a huge difference to a dog’s wellbeing.
Long-Term Foster
Long-term fostering is for those who can commit to caring for a dog or cat for an extended period, potentially 12 months or longer.
This may be suitable for animals who need more time to find the right permanent home, or those with specific behavioural, medical, or emotional needs that would benefit from the stability of a consistent home environment.
Long-term foster carers provide the love, routine, and stability these dogs need while we cover all costs involved.
